Remembering 9/11

The History Center at the Port Washington Public Library is proud to announce the launch of a new digital portal, “Remembering 9/11.” The portal will be available through the History Center website as an educational resource so that we may never forget the impact this devastating event had on our community. In addition to containing nine oral history interviews given by Port Washington residents who were directly affected by the events of September 11, 2001, the portal serves as a repository for never-before published images of Ground Zero taken by firefighters from the Port Washington Fire Department. The History Center wishes to thank Peter Zwerlein, former Chief, and Raymond Ryan, Protection Engine Company No. 1, Port Washington Fire Department for donating these photographs.
