As more museums open, COVID-19 restrictions are in place. Each museum has its own requirements to visit safely. This page will give you the following information:

IMPORTANT: Library patrons do not have to pay for timed tickets when visiting a museum. This page will provide the CODES needed to bypass any fees museums may be charging.
PLEASE NOTE: All museums are limiting the number of people to 25% of their maximum capacity. Face masks and social distancing required for each museum even when not noted on this page.

- Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium (Print-on-Demand)
Visitor Hours: Open daily 10am to 5pm. Advance reservations and time ticket entry not required.
- Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum (Print-on-Demand)
Visitor Hours: Saturday and Sunday, 12pm to 4pm. In addition to reserving the museum pass, patrons must reserve FREE tickets through the museum’s website using the code MEMBER20. Click here to reserve tickets.
- Cradle of Aviation (Grab-and-Go at the Library)
Visitor Hours: Thursday—Sunday, 10am to 4pm. Museum galleries are open. Theater, Planetarium, Junior Jet Club and Nunley’s Carousel are closed.
- Empire Pass (Grab-and-Go at the Library)
New York State Parks are currently open. If you plan on visiting, please wear a face covering and maintain social distance. Park density limits are in effect, so have an alternate plan ready in case the park you are visiting reaches capacity. - Garvies Point Museum & Preserve (Print-on-Demand)
Visitor Hours: Tuesday—Saturday, 10am to 4pm. One family group are allowed in foyer, gift shop, and exhibit alcove at a time. 3-4 family groups in museum at a time for a duration up to 1.5 hours. Call the museum at 516-571-8010 ahead of time to check for availability. If museum is at maximum capacity, please utilize the nature trails on the preserve, relax in the picnic area (bring a bag lunch), bring binoculars for birdwatching, visit the bird & butterfly friendly gardens and Native American Herb Garden, or visit the shoreline. Interactive “Woodland Village” will be closed until further notice.
- Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center (Print-on-Demand)
HMTC will be open beginning October 1. Between October 1and November 15, they will be offering Garden Tours, which will explore the history of the Holocaust in our Children’s Memorial Garden. This tour is entirely outdoors and does not have any public restrooms available. Participants should be comfortable walking and standing for an hour, although our garden is wheelchair accessible.Beginning October 15, they will be offering self-guided one-hour tours inside of the museum. Tours are limited to one household/family unit at a time. All participants must be masked for the entirety of the tour and socially distanced. Both tours are available at select times on Monday, Thursday, and Sundays. All tours must be scheduled at least three days in advance. - Intrepid (Print-on-Demand)
Visitor Hours: Wednesday—Sunday, 10am to 5pm. The majority of the 350,000 square foot Intrepid Museum will be available and accessible to visitors, including most exhibitions, the entire collection of aircraft outside on the flight deck and in the spacious hangar deck, as well as the Space Shuttle Pavilion, which houses the space shuttle Enterprise. Library patrons must reserve FREE tickets by clicking here. You will need to show your Port Washington Public Library card along with your tickets to enter the museum.
- Jewish Museum of Art (Print-on-Demand)
Visitor Hours: Thursday, 1pm to 8 pm; Friday—Monday, 11am to 4pm; Closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Library members should reserve their tickets in advance by clicking here. In order to reserve a ticket, patrons will need to enter the Library Membership ID number, which is TJM394719744, and enter LibraryMembership as the last name for verification. Passes are for use by Port Washington card holders only.
- Long Island Children’s Museum (Grab-and-Go at the Library)
Visitor Hours: Thursday—Sunday, 10am to 3pm. 10am to 11am reserved for Members only. Library passes are redeemed at the box office and patrons do not need to purchase or reserve online tickets with this pass. - Museum of Modern Art (Grab-and-Go at the Library)
Visitor Hours: Open daily, 10:30am to 5:30 pm. Mondays are reserved exclusively for members and their guests. Library patrons may simply present the MoMA membership card upon arrival for the next available entry slot.
- Nassau County Firefighters Museum (Print-on-Demand)
Visitor Hours: Wednesday–Sunday, 10am to 4pm. Disposable masks will be available at the entrance for those who are not wearing one. Museum Galleries are open, some exhibits have been adjusted for safety.
- Nassau County Museum of Art (Print-on-Demand)
Visiting Hours: Tuesday–Sunday, 11am to 4:45 pm. Closed Monday. Visitors using a library museum pass do not need to make a reservation. Upon arrival, if there are no reservations left for that time slot, visitors will need to wait for the next available opening.
- Old Bethpage Village Restoration (Print-on-Demand)
Visitor Hours: Friday—Sunday (weather permitting), 10am to 2:30pm through November 15, 2020. Patrons must pre-register to visit by calling 516-572-8409. All patrons must be New York State residents and will be required to show photo identification. Masks are mandatory even within the village.
- Old Westbury Gardens (Print-on-Demand)
Visitor Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 11am to 6pm; Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 5pm. Old Westbury Gardens is closed on Tuesday. Library passes that are valid for the day of admission are accepted. No advance reservations or timed tickets are required.
- Sands Point Preserve Conservancy (Grab-and-Go at the Library)
Visitor Hours: Wednesday—Saturday, 11am to 6pm (Members Only: 9am to 11am); Sundays, 9am to 6pm; Latest entry is 5:30 pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday. The Great Lawn, Rose Garden, Woodland Playground, forest trails, and pond area are accessible, however, the mansions, Welcome Center, and dog run will remain closed for the health and safety of all visitors. The number of cars will be limited to avoid crowding in the parking areas and on the grounds. Social distancing is required: Please keep 6 feet apart. Wear face masks. Passive use of park only. No congregating or parties. No sports or group games. No swimming on beach. No camping. No fishing. No drones. No bicycles, mopeds, or motorcycles. Dogs must always be kept on leashes.
- Vanderbilt Mansion, Museum & Planetarium (Print-on-Demand)
Visitor Hours: Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from 12pm to 5pm. Advance reservations and timed ticket entry not required. The Mansion living quarters and Planetarium remain closed. Facial coverings and social distancing are required. All visitors must carry out everything they bring with them to the property, including picnic/food waste, and water or beverage containers.
- Walt Whitman Birthplace (Print-on-Demand)
Open for tours Wednesday—Friday, 1pm to 4pm; Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 4pm. No advance reservations or timed tickets are required.
