Between 1963-1965, Barr shot eight covers for <em>Sports Illustrated<\/em>, including boxer Cassius Clay\u2019s first\u00a0<em>SI<\/em>\u00a0cover. From 1966-1974, he was a contributing photographer to\u00a0<em>Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/em>, frequently photographing the French couture collections. In 1968, his photograph of Naomi Sims for the cover of\u00a0<em>Ladies\u2019 Home Journal\u00a0<\/em>broke the color barrier for mainstream women\u2019s magazines. His commercial clients have included Revlon, Cover Girl, Est\u00e9e Lauder, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Christian Dior, Halston and Faberg\u00e9. After 43 years in New York City, Barr relocated his studio to Ventura, California where he concentrates on photographing a book project of his own collection of 1920\u2019s vintage fashion.
