All About Birds: This site is a great resource for anyone studying birds either for school or for fun. This database of nearly every species of bird includes life history, audio clips of the bird’s voice, as well as video of the bird in the wild. This site is supported courtesy of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

Animal Planet: A great site for kids to begin with if they are researching a specific wild animal or are just interested in wildlife.

Catch the Science Bug: Get excited about science with some science activities and and investigations you can do from your very own home.

Lawrence Hall of Science: This is a great website if you interested in science experiments and games without the mess and cleanup! A wonderful exploration into your first science laboratory.

Atlapedia: Contains information on every country of the world. Each profile of a country includes facts on geography, climate, people, religion, language, history.

50 States: Learn about any or all of the 50 U.S. states and get capital cities, state birds, songs, nicknames, sports teams and many other facts and links.

CIA World Factbook: A database from the CIA which gives facts and information about every country in the world. Great site for country reports.

Scholastic’s Global Trek: This site is a way for students to travel the world without having to leave their classroom. The travel itinerary provides links to background information and a chance to read about a country’s people and culture.

History

America’s Story from America’s Library : A kid friendly exploration of U.S. History with the help of the Library of Congress.

Ancient Egypt: This site, from the British Museum, offers students a diverse amount of information on ancient Egypt ranging from religion, to geography, to writing.

Ancient Olympic Games: At this site you can compare ancient and modern Olympic sports, tour the site of Olympia as it looks today, and read about the athletes from the ancient times. This site is part of the Perseus Project at Tufts University.
