Cow Neck in the Revolution

The area we now call Port Washington was occupied by the British for seven years during the Revolutionary War. Local families suffered immense hardship: they were forced to quarter enemy troops, had their children pressed into service, and even endured pirate attacks. Some Cow Neck Patriots bravely fought for American freedom while others assisted the revolutionary cause in secret – and some yet remained loyal to the Crown. These stories are explored in Cow Neck in the Revolution, presented in collaboration with the Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society in celebration of 250 years of American independence. On display in the History Center Annex June through December 2026.

Cricut All Abilities: Dinosaur Shadowbox

The summer reading theme this year is “Unearth a Story.” Let’s unearth dinosaur bones in this beginner‑friendly cardstock shadowbox. All pieces will be pre‑cut.

All abilities are welcome, but we do ask that participants under the age of 11 be accompanied by an adult. All supplies will be provided. Registration opens on July 3rd. Priority will be given to Port Washington card holders.

Film - "Hamilton - Sing-Along Version" - (2020 - 160 mins.)

Join us as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of our nation with a special film screening of Hamilton (2020 - 160 mins), the smash-hit Broadway musical, brought to the big screen with the original cast members!  If you have not seen the musical or want to see it again here's your chance to learn about founding father Alexander Hamilton and how he "went from a forgotten spot in the Caribbean, impoverished, in squalor, and grows up to be a hero and a scholar." (Please note this film is rated PG-13).  And please note the early start time at 6:00 p.m.

This screening will be a sing-along version of the film with the lyrics displayed on the screen. 

(A regular screening of the film will take place on July 8 at 6:00 p.m.)
